I doubt if they will be pleased to see him. It is my experience that they are not very eager to work with foreigners. The Indians tend to see their country as a very specific region of the world and they do not feel that international or European business practices apply to the local Indian situation. Therefore Dirk Jan will have to make a lot of effort to convince his client of the added value of his services.
This is Tokumoto from Japan. It seems as if this guy is running a one man show. What about his team? Doesn't he have any collegues? It's for sure that this guy is mainly motivated by his own individual achievements. This is very different from what I experience in my company in Japan. For us the team effort is much more important. I would not be that motivated if my boss would give me a higher year end bonus. Money is not the most important thing in live. You agree?
Hofstede, a Dutch researcher, defined masculinity as one of the cultural dimensions to differentiate between countries. With his drive to earn more money Dirk Jan scores high on this dimension. This is in contrast btw to the rating of the Netherlands as a whole. According to Hofstede's research the Netherlands has a low masculinity which means that most Dutch people prefer quality of live instead of a higher pay and other material things. If you want to read more about Hofstede's research you can read his book Cultures and Organizations: software of the mind. Bye.
